Columns and Criosphinxes

There is very little to go by when constructing the columns from the first pillar hall and twin sphinx (possible?) statues at the temple's entrance.  Jean Li suggested that the columns are  more than likely papyriform columns.  This assumption is based on the discovered decorative ring from the base of the capital. column_CH_Page_1_Image_0001 This ring depicts open buds, however Ranke’s interpretations show a closed bud variation.  We’ve decided to go with Ranke’s version for the initial construction.  temple_column_for_mayafletchColumns at Karnak Temple, Luxor, EgyptTemple of Karnak. I haven’t been able to find many references of statues Ranke depicts in his illustration.  herman_ranke_front_temple_elhibeh I’m going in the direction of the what is seen at the Karnak temple.  croisphinx3Ancient ruins of KarnakRam sphinxes at Karnak TempleRam-headed sphinxes at Karnak templeAvenue of ram-headed sphinxes, Temples of Karnak, Luxor, EgyptSphinxes Statue In Karnak Temple
